Catherine Mckay's Story
Catherine is a passionate student of health, as the topic serves as a guiding force to travel many different paths. In 2015, she lived in South Africa and in Haiti, serving isolated communities in both rural and urban towns. She was granted memories and values based around the aspects of comfort and care, while witnessing the importance of traditional cooking and healing modalities each culture practiced. Curious to learn more, she attended culinary school through the Natural Gourmet Institute in NYC, working in restaurants in Manhattan that embody culinary techniques like cooking with foods from the Earth and instilling Ayurvedic wisdom into each dish. She has also obtained her 200 Yoga Teacher Training, allowing her to further understand how movement can be medicine too.

Prior to starting at FSIM, Catherine worked on the Main Line as a Certified Surgical tech for 3 years. She enjoyed that position because she loved being part of the team to optimize the care for her patients. However, she wanted to find a field of medicine where she could have more lasting relationships with patient's to help educate optimize their health and felt FSIM was the best combination for the next step in her career.
When she is not at work, she is best seen at any coop or farmers market, dreaming of new ways to connect and feed her friends and family. She hopes to be a part of the change, guiding others along the path of health - to be healed from chronic health conditions and exist in wellbeing.
