GAINSWave is built on low-intensity extracorporeal shockwave therapy (LI-ESWT) — high-frequency acoustic sound waves delivered directly to targeted tissue. The underlying shockwave technology is FDA-cleared and backed by decades of research.
Here's what's actually happening in your body: the acoustic waves trigger mechanotransduction, essentially "waking up" cells at a biological level. That's a remarkable combination of effectiveness and safety for a non-invasive therapy.
For Men: Real, Measurable Results for ED and Peyronie's Disease
A 2022 meta-analysis of 16 randomized controlled trials found that low-intensity shockwave therapy produced statistically significant improvements in erectile function scores at one, three, and six months, with especially strong results for men with moderate ED (Yao et al., American Journal of Men's Health, 2022). Men treated were significantly more likely to regain the erectile hardness needed for intercourse — with more than five times the odds in the pooled analysis (odds ratio 5.07).
For Peyronie's disease, a 2024 meta-analysis found meaningful reductions in penile plaque size, improved curvature, and complete pain remission in a substantial number of men (BMC Urology, 2024) — a real, tangible win for a condition that's historically been hard to treat non-surgically.
For Women: An Exciting, Fast-Moving Frontier
Women's sexual health has long been under-researched compared to men's, and that's finally starting to change. Early clinical data presented at meetings of the International Continence Society and the International Society for Sexual Medicine has shown encouraging results for women experiencing decreased sensation, difficulty with arousal, and stress urinary incontinence. This research base is newer, but it rests on the same powerful biology that drives the men's health results: improved blood flow and tissue responsiveness.
An Exciting Off-Label Use: Neuropathy
One application worth getting excited about: neuropathy. GAINSWave isn't FDA-cleared specifically for nerve pain, but the science behind it is compelling. A 2023 study found shockwave therapy significantly restored blood flow in diabetic feet, with tissue oxygen levels recovering to healthy thresholds within just two weeks of treatment (Jeong et al., Medicine, 2023) — and poor circulation is a major driver of neuropathy. A 2024 review also found shockwave therapy improved nerve conduction, likely by boosting nerve growth factor and blood flow to nerve tissue (Meng et al., Frontiers in Neurology, 2024).
